Our careers are where we spend most of our daily lives. Ambitious individuals take a lot of pride in their careers and it’s probably safe to say that your career is always going to be incredibly important to you.
So, what do we do when our daily work routine changes or abruptly ends? In the current climate as it is and everything that we’re dealing with right now, you may feel a little off track. When you’re working at home and you feel unmotivated, it’s time to turn that around.
If you want to shake off that yucky feeling and start to feel a lot happier in your personal life and your career, I’ve outlined five things that you can do to help boost your mood.

Take Some Time Out
To start with, you may find that it’s a great idea for you to be able to slow down. If you’re stressed out, worried, or worked up, it’s not a good idea for you to try and force yourself to work. Instead, you need to make sure that you’re taking breaks. Switch your mind off and step away from your work screen for a while if you can. This could help you to clear your mind and feel refreshed.
Ideas: Take a moment to sit on your back porch and enjoy the sunshine, take a walk around your block or stand up and stretch.
Set Goals
Once you’ve stepped back a little, you might realize that you feel more refreshed and you’re ready to take on the workday. Working from home can be stressful, and it’s worse when you don’t have a routine. So, treat this like you would normally when you’re working. Set your goals and make sure that you know what you want to achieve daily, weekly, or even while this is going on overall.
Ideas: Cook new recipes, learn a new skill, exercise every morning.

Be Proactive
Once you have taken some downtime and set a few goals for yourself, it’s time to be proactive about the work you have to do. Sometimes, it’s great to just throw yourself in and get started. Pick a start time and dive into your workday.
Look Into Your Options
From here, you’re then going to want to think about some of the options that you have to protect yourself just in case you need to. If you know that you’re losing money or you feel like you need to be able to protect your income, it’s important to look into what you might be able to receive. As you know, we’re dealing with a virus known as COVID19 and it can have an impact on your career.

Plan For The Future
Finally, keep looking ahead and focus on the future. Right now might be a super scary time, but it’s not always going to be this way. In fact, you will find that eventually, things go back to normal. And it’s great to be prepared for that. So what kind of plans can you make now that will serve you well in the future? Think about what you’d like to achieve, what travel destinations you want to visit, and the people you want to celebrate life with after the crisis is over.
Get excited about the future and it will keep you motivated today.
