Drive in Five: 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4X4

2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4X4

“Drive in Five” is a snapshot review of the latest cars on the market in five points or less. I’m not a car expert, but a southern woman giving her unbiased opinion on the latest rides rolling off car lots.

  • It’s a truck… and a Jeep!
  • Iconic round headlamps and seven-slot keystone grille
  • Removable doors
  • Fold-down windshield
  • The fourth-gen Uconnect system includes Apple CarPlay with an 8.4-inch touchscreen

1. Favorite Features

While I didn’t get tagged in the “Duck Duck Jeep” game, I was so excited to test drive the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4X4. Driving it, I felt like I had a lot of control over the road. I liked having the truck bed option more than I thought. I also loved the diesel engine and the 24 MPG.

2. Comfort Level

I’ve been a passenger in a Jeep Wrangler before and I’ve never been impressed with the road noise, the removable features, and the overall look of the vehicle. I’ve owned two Jeep Grand Cherokees and I have always preferred that model, over the Wrangler. It’s an easy argument to make that the Wrangler and Cherokees are completely different vehicles and target demographics. I will say that the Gladiator changed my opinion. The interior was cozy and comfortable for a long drive on and off the road.

3. How Does it Drive?

Easy steerability. This is one of the easiest, larger vehicles, that I’ve driven. It moved easily around corners, changing lanes, and pulling into parking spaces.

4. Overall Looks

Sexy. I mean it’s just a sexy vehicle. The interior was comfortable including heated seats and a heated steering wheel. The red was flashy and it made heads turn when you drove by

5. Cost

Surprisingly “affordable” when you start comparing it to other vehicles in the same class with similar capabilities and features. I don’t think I could justify the purchase of a Jeep Gladiator Diesel 4×4 given my conservative lifestyle. But if I was out hiking and spending a lot of time on trails, hands down this is the perfect vehicle for an adventure seeker!
