Spring is here! I love the beginning of Spring because it is always an exciting time of year – it means longer days, lighter evenings, and it is also Texas Bluebonnet season. Spring is a great time of year to refresh your home, whether it is inside or outside. From a garden refresh, to trying your hand at growing new produce, your outside space is extension of your living room, perfect for hosting outside (soically distanced) parties. In whatever way you utilize your home during the spring, here are four tips for getting your home ready for the Spring.

1. Ensure the cooling system works
Turning off the air conditioning unit is common for those who live in colder climates. As it warms up outside in Texas, and you have had your A/C turned off for several months due to the colder weather, consider contacting an air conditioning repair service to ensure the A/C unit is working efficiently. The last thing you want is to be baking in the summer with nowhere to cool down. With an efficient cooling system, you can always rely on your home being a comfortable place to be as soon as the weather warms up.
2. Jazz up the garden
When the weather is warmer and the evenings are cooler, you will most likely want to use your outdoor space more. Simple additions to the backyard can take it from yikes to an oasis, such as a new seating area, fresh flowers, or a water feature. If you are like me, you will probably find that the weeds have overgrown the plants and my flowers have died. An easy way to bring life back to your garden is simply cutting back the dead greenery and refreshing it to make your garden look and feel inspiring for spring.
Springtime is also a great season to spend more time gardening and getting your garden ready for summer. You could even make your own vegetable patch, where you will be able to harvest fresh produce in just a few months.

3. Change up the scent
Even nature does it – have you ever noticed that spring smells different than winter? So should you. Winter is all about intense scents like vanilla and sandalwood. The spring scents should be fresh, such as scents of lemon, coconut, or jasmine. Consider buying candles, room fresheners, or potpourri that smell like summer. Smell is a powerful sense and it can change the overall feel of your space, indoors and outdoors.

4. Change the setup
Why let your furniture stay in a single place all the time – it isn’t nailed to the ground, right? Work with the placement of your couch, coffee table, and other furniture around your house. To bring spring indoors and liven up your space a bit, put some fresh flowers in a vase and place them on the center table. Add colorful accessories such as a new throw or pillows to your couch. This gives it a completely fresh look without even having to buy new furniture altogether. Little details like this can give your home a makeover and won’t break the bank.
