Beyond the party decorations and the carefully curated menu, evaluating and creating memorable entertaining spaces is as important as planning the party.
Evaluating and creating spaces in your home for entertaining can be seem like a daunting task at first, but it will help to elevate your gathering to a warm and inviting entertaining space that your guests will enjoy. Start by walking through your entertaining spaces such as the dining and living room and take into consideration the flow of the room. How easy will it be for guests to walk around and are there objects in the room that will obstruct natural pathways. Before you extend your invitations, take note of the size of the room, and determine if it will accommodate the number of people you plan to entertain.

Evaluation of the size of each room will help you to have a better understanding of the space and help you to maximize the space for entertaining. For example, if you have a small living room, consider utilizing the corners with shelves or bar carts for extra storage. Bar carts make an excellent addition to an entertaining space because they can easily be moved around if needed. If you have a larger living room, think about adding seating around the perimeter to create a conversation area. If you have an outdoor space, consider adding seating and a fire pit to create a cozy environment.
While you are evaluating the size of each room consider the atmosphere and overall tone you want to set before guests arrive. Create calming and relaxing atmosphere by adding soft lighting such as a floor lamp or flameless candles. Playing your favorite record or queuing up your dinner party playlist will also help to set the overall stage for your party.
